The Lexus CT 200h has been discontinued in the US since 2017, in Europe since late 2020, and in Australia since 2021, but the compact hatchback is still available in Japan despite being introduced in 2010. So, Unsurprisingly, the brand has announced that it will end production of the CT in October 2022 by unveiling a new special edition called "Cherished Touring" as a farewell to the aging model.The Special Edition will be available exclusively in Japan with minor visual tweaks and more equipment. It can be distinguished visually by silver accents (spindle grille, fog lights, rear bumper, etc.) and a roof in Sonic Titanium color.Inside we find crimson colors spread on the seats and door cards along with the black upholstery. There is also a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Standard equipment includes electric and heated mirrors, automatic wipers, a heated steering wheel and heated seats.Under the hood, there is a 1.8-liter petrol engine combined with an electric motor that produces 134 horsepower and 207 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front axle through a CVT gearbox.
Prices for the Lexus CT200 Cherished Touring in Japan start at $36.508. By comparison, the regular CT200H is priced between $33,438 and $42,184 for the final year of production.
Originally introduced in 2010, the Lexus CT received a facelift in 2014 and additional mild updates in 2017. It is based on the previous generation Toyota Auris/Corolla platform, and was available with a hybrid powertrain.
During its life cycle, Lexus has sold approximately 380,000 units in 65 countries. The last units of the CT will come out of the Lexus plant in October 2022, making way for the upcoming compact crossover teased a few months ago, which will likely feature a hybrid powertrain.
