Italian luxury brand Maserati has launched a campaign to promote its first electric model, the GranTurismo Fulgur, as Maserati will launch a range of electric models bearing the Fulgur name - the Italian word for lightning.

This comes in light of Maserati's commitment to electric mobility to support the trend towards new energy, which is progressing significantly to run at full speed with the Fulgorie, all-electric system. All new Maserati models will also be available with 100% electric systems, including the Maserati Grecali, Maserati GranTurismo, GranCabrio and the Maserati MC20 super sports car.

Maserati says that the first car in the Maserati Fulgur range will offer advanced technical solutions derived from Formula E, providing an environment that combines high performance with outstanding innovation.
The car will be powered by three 1,200 hp engines with Maserati Distinctive Handling Control (VDCM). It will also have Formula E adapters and a lightweight, multi-material chassis and body to keep the weight down.
The car will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 300 km/h.

Based on these teaser images, the electric GranTurismo's design has been completed, although some details are still hidden from view. The sporty prototype is camouflaged in the proportions of a typical Maserati Grand Tourer with a long, flowing bonnet, large grille and muscular fenders.
