Cars - Mercedes has just revealed its latest version of the stunning four-door AMG GT 63. The company also revealed new patents for a door handle that includes a display. In the documents submitted, Mercedes assumes that “there is an increasing desire to allocate additional features in vehicles. The customer expects the vehicle to be designed as individual and as personal as possible.
To that end, Mercedes says that by using a liquid crystal display, it could make a door handle capable of displaying personal information. And the smart knob might use a signal from a smartphone app to discover the car’s owner in the same way that a phone system works like a key, so when a car user approaches, the car can detect their identity and display a personal message, such as “Hello with car owner’s name!” Or "Good evening, with the name of the driver."
This screen can be used for a variety of functions, such as connecting a smartphone and using it as a dedicated digital key to display weather conditions. Another potential application mentioned in the documentation relates to handle assignment. And the driver can make the door handle appear as if it had a chrome bar under normal conditions, glowing green when opening or red when closing. Alternatively, Mercedes says other preloaded designs for the digital door handle can be specified, such as one that matches the interior's décor or color scheme. Furthermore, you may be able to use a camera in the car or on your phone linked to the app to scan a pattern or design you like and display it on the knobs.
