Genesis debuted the X Speedium concept electric coupe that contains the genes of the luxury brand as it looks to the next level of transformation into a luxury electric car brand, with six models by 2030. With a new design philosophy that combines sporty elegance with the most advanced design.
Genesis also announced its plans to produce the next electric car for the US market, the GV70 SUV, which is scheduled to start production next December.
The Speedium name is inspired by the Korean racetrack in Enge, and the passion for motorsports inspired by the designers of Genesis. The name also embodies a belief that the "emotional value" of driving will remain strong in the age of electricity. The addition of the word "Coupe" highlights the driving pleasure through its aesthetic designs. It is distinguished by its restrained elegance, clear lines and delicate curves.
At the front of the car, the distinctive Genesis two-stripe headlights have evolved into a full-width grille-like element, incorporating daytime running lights and low and high beams together.
From the side, the parabolic line extending from the front to the rear maintains a certain rhythm in the design with a streamlined appearance that expresses simple elegance. At the same time, the tail visually balances the appearance between the convex and concave surfaces of the stern.
As expected of a car inspired by a Korean racetrack, the color includes mountainous landscapes to complement the image of a classic car that embodies dynamism, speed and pioneering elegance.
Genesis had announced that its first electric cars would be produced in the United States at the manufacturing facility in Montgomery, and production is expected to begin in December 2022.
Starting today, customers in select US markets can enroll in a program designed to organize a customized buying experience for the JV60, the brand's first dedicated electric vehicle.
Genesis has shown significant growth in the US market, with record monthly sales over the past 16 months. The brand recorded 11,723 sales in the first quarter of 2022, the largest quarterly sales achievement since entering the US market in 2016.
